EV, Hydrogen or Synthetic fuel?!

While I'm a huge fan of Top Gear and it's attributed follow on shows...
I'm also a fan of cars. While a big V8 is nice, fast fours and Rotary were my preference.
It's been interesting to see, with the threat of climate change, some of the alternative options available.
I was even more interested to hear about the carbon footprint of an existing vehicle using synthetic fuel vs a new age alternate (brand new car, he reiterates at the end if you don't want to watch the whole thing).
While reference was made to the expense of producing synthetic fuel.
I'm sure with effort, demand and technology, mass production would reduce this and benefit all who cannot afford an 80-120K EV or alternate fuel vehicle.
