The host wants to do a clean install of SMF to resolve all the problems and to do this they want to delete the forum database which would mean all posts and memberships etc would be gone- 14 years of work down the drain! This is unacceptable to me and i am also not prepared to run a crippled forum. So if things don't change then its goodbye to the forum which will make some people very happy
and will give me more time to spend with my new girlfriend. So if the forum goes thanks to all that have contributed over the 14 years and good luck in your gold hunting.
