Better Late Than Never

Is luggage loss now the norm on interstate flights too?
Was a disappointment for a member this week (he can make himself known) after flying down from Qld to Bendigo to give his detector a rundown, he arrived safely, but his suitcase and detector were not to be seen. (a loaner machine was organized)

Fortunately his case arrived the next morning and detector (Zed) this afternoon.
Is Aus post doing luggage now? This is ridiculous for a short interstate trip.
